We believe that leadership is shared and plural. We want to establish teams of leaders rather than have one person as the main leader. This applies to the overall leadership of the church as well as leadership of ministries within it.
To this end, as well as the Parish Council and Churchwardens, we have established a Parish Oversight Team which helps the Senior Mnister with valuable insight and feedback in reviewing and planning for the various ministries at St Alban's. (A paper on elders is available for those who are interested.)
We have also set up teams for overseeing the Sunday children's ministry, youth small groups, and for the support of evangelism at St Alban's with a 9.30 Church Evangelism Support Team and a similar team for the 6.30 Church.
This is another way of saying that we are diversifying our ministries and giving the authority and responsibility to those who are doing the ministry. Teams are appointed and commissioned with a specific job description and boundaries, together with a budget agreed by the Parish Council. The diverse ministry teams work under the oversight of one of the main Oversight Teams or Parish Council.
