Prayer Triplets for

Guidelines for M & M Triplets

The purpose of an M & M prayer triplet is to provide encouragement and support to mothers with young children who are a part of St Alban's and to reach out to other mothers who don't yet know Jesus. This happens through prayer and fellowship between mothers with young children and a "mentor".

Meeting: It's up to the members of each triplet to decide when, where and how often to meet. There's no reason why meetings should be weekly, although it's a good idea to meet regularly. Allow plenty of time for prayer at your meetings. By all means use scripture to encourage one another, but this is not the place for Bible study.

Praying for Others: As soon as possible, each of you should nominate one non church mother you want to pray for at your meeting. Then pray for them regularly. When you're ready think about ways of introducing them to other Christians and the gospel - perhaps invite them to morning tea with your triplet or bring them to an M & M get-together.

If you are a mentor: don't feel that you have to be constantly giving wisdom and advice. Being a good listener is important. So is sharing your experiences, good and bad. Offer what practical support you feel comfortable with but don't overdo it. You don't have to meet every need.

If you are a mother: remember to give the mentor in your group an opportunity to share her concerns and pray for her. Sometimes listening to someone in a different situation can bring your own problems into perspective. Please don't assume the mentor loves baby sitting! If you need help, ask for it but be prepared to allow the other person to say "no". Instead contact another mentor. You are not alone.

Be patient. It takes time to get to know and trust one another and find the best format for getting together. If your group is having lots of problems that you can not seem to solve, or if for some reason you decide not to continue with your prayer triplet, please let us know.
