Small Groups

Small groups meet in homes in Highgate, Mt Lawley, Belmont and other locations around Perth.

There are a variety of Small Groups which form part of the fellowship and spiritual life of St Alban's; and most meet in homes during the week.  Some are family clusters which meet monthly and are suited to the needs of families with young children. We encourage everyone to be part of a small group.  Talk to Trevor if you would like help to join a group.

Our Small Groups give us that opportunity for nurturing, encouraging, and building up each other as the body of Christ in this  place; and allows us the opportunity to get to know one another better.

We want to foster relationships so that the Christians are equipped for, and supported in the mission God has called us to.

We believe God will minister his word, his grace, his Spirit through us as we meet and minister to one another.

What Are Small Groups?

1. A Small Meeting of the Church

Every member of St. Alban's is encouraged to gather in a small meeting as well in the large meeting on Sunday. There are many things we need to do as the body of Christ which can be done best in a small group. Ministering to one another, praying, reading the Bible together, building each other up, sharing our joys and struggles are all part of our life together. We pray that the small groups will become small communities of love.

2. How Is It Run?

The meetings are informal. Two leaders are appointed by the Senior Minister in consultation with small group leaders and the 9.30 or 6.30 Oversight Team. The leaders act as Pastors to the small group, encouraging the other members in the group to share in the ministry of the group. The use of gifts of the Holy Spirit is encouraged. We expect that God will challenge, change and grow us.

3. Who Can Join?

• no age limit
• no qualification required
• anyone who is interested and is committed to their own growth and the growth of the body.
• everyone who is part of a congregation at St. Alban's

4. How Do You Join?

Look at the list of groups. Speak to the leader to check on meeting arrangements, or just turn up.  Ask Trevor for advice if you need to.

5. Why Join a Small Group?

• get to know others better
• have mutual support and care
• grow in the knowledge and love of God in the group
• have a change
• enjoy others cooking (if your group meets for a meal).

• to be part of the church in a closer dimension.
